Air South - Baron used for multi engine command instrument ratings and aircraft charter

Air South is a highly reputable Adelaide based charter company. Over the years - Air South have provided dozens of commercial pilot license holders with command instrument rating training. These pilots have since gained employment with charter operators and then moved on to career jobs ranging from Aeromedical Pilots to International Airline Captains.

Consider these points when choosing Air South as your multi engined command instrument rating (MECIR) provider:

  • When training with Air South - you are training with an actual 'industry experienced charter operator'
  • When training with Air South - you'll be instructed by a pilot who has actual 'commercial' IFR experience
  • When training with Air South - your initial twin endorsement and all of your training is conducted on a Beechcraft Baron - a twin engined charter aircraft which is widely used amongst operators throughout the country
  • When it comes to seeking your annual MECIR renewal - there are countless providers and operators around the country that use Barons
  • While conducting your instrument rating training, you will accrue in excess of 20 hours on the Baron - making you a valuable candidate for promotions from single engined aircraft to the light twin (countless operators around the country operate Barons and require a minimum of 10 hours on type for insurance purposes!)
  • You will be provided with the opportunity to travel along on Air South's night freight operations as an observer with a real charter pilot, in a real charter aircraft under the instrument flight rules (IFR) - which will greatly add to the 'broader picture' of what actual IFR charter/operations are all about

Consider these points when choosing a 'generic pilot factory flying school' as your command instrument rating (CIR) provider:

  • When training with a pilot factory - you are training with a school that has experience in teaching pilots to fly under the IFR - something that most pilot factory schools have never actually done for commercial operations purposes
  • When training with a pilot factory - there's a good chance you'll be instructed by an instructor who has never actually flown under the instrument flight rules (IFR) on 'high pressure go-go-go commercial' operations
  • When training with a pilot factory - there is a good chance that the aircraft you train on will be entirely useless to your career (eg. Diamond, Seneca, Cougar, etc. etc.)
  • When it comes to doing your annual renewal - you'll have to hunt for an operator that has one of these rare useless types of training aircraft (because that is all you will be endorsed on!)
  • When flying with a pilot factory - you'll accrue hours on a useless training aircraft, rather than accruing hours on a real charter aircraft which may help you with insurance minimums and landing your first twin job down the track
  • When training with a pilot factory flying school - you will not gain exposure to the real world of commercial operations. Instead, chances are you will sit on the ground waiting for bad weather to pass - instead of getting up in the mix and experiencing real weather
